The Canadian Landmine Foundation is Canada's foremost awareness
building and fundraising organization for landmine action. Officially
introduced by The Hon. Lloyd Axworthy on June 28, 1999, the Canadian
Landmine Foundation is led by a President & CEO, and is governed
by a Chairman and a Board of Directors comprised of prominent Canadians
from across the country.
The Foundation is a registered charity with a mission to raise
awareness and funds to end the human and economic suffering caused
by anti-personnel landmines. The Foundation has a strong history
of building significant partnerships for mine action and of reminding
Canadians of the international leadership provided by the Government
of Canada.
The Foundation has created a number of innovative campaigns including
Night of A Thousand Dinners which has contributed over $4 million
to mine action through events held in over 50 countries. In addition,
the Foundation working with the donated talents of writers, directors,
producers and technicians, produced the public service announcement
'Someone will find them' which has won national and international
awards.
The Foundation is a managing partner in the global Adopt-A-Minefield
Campaign with partners in the USA,
UK, and
Sweden.
